About Marcia
I am the oldest of six children, so I took on caregiving responsibilities for my younger siblings from an early age. Growing up, I was very active and developed a strong passion for sports. This inspired me to pursue a degree in physical education and become a teacher. For 13 years, I taught in Ohio and Sarasota, Florida. To further support my students, I earned a master’s degree in special education, allowing me to better assist children with disabilities.
In 1991, I was honored as Elementary Teacher of the Year for my innovative "Gold Sneaker Award." This program encouraged good behavior by having students compete for a class award each month. The initiative was so successful that it is now implemented statewide.
Later, when my mother-in-law needed spinal surgery, I took a year-long leave of absence to assist in her recovery. During this time, my husband and mother-in-law, both successful in real estate, encouraged me to explore the field. They believed my teaching background—particularly my empathy, listening skills, and ability to connect with others—would make me a natural fit. With their support, I started my real estate career, branding myself with the marketing slogan "APPLE +" and a red apple logo. This resonated with many buyers, particularly families and educators, helping me establish a successful business.
For over 30 years, I have been an active member of the Junior League, giving back to my community in various ways. Additionally, I am deeply passionate about supporting the American Cancer Society. I lost my sister to breast cancer in 2001, when she was just 49 years old. To honor her memory, I joined the "Zuper Zatz" Relay for Life team, led by Paul and Laura Zatz, and have participated in the event for 23 years raising over a half a million dollars.
